Setting off against the night. I don’t dare riding on slovakian roads during the day in full traffic… too dangerous. My destination is island of Vaeroy in Norway, 2000 miles away. I have one less bag of luggage. Even from those very few things I had with me last year, I was able to exlude some. I’m not taking 5l jerrycan of petrol with me, amount of clothes was reduced to one half, I don’t need 3 pairs of shoes, razor, no shampoos for Malina and also the 10kg of tools and replacements parts was reduced hugely to only the most probable problems I can encounter like flat tyres and blown lightbulbs.

There are some days you will never forget. Those that split your life into “before” and “after”. One of those days had been awaiting me. I remember it well. The silly rain, squealing wind, the destruction, the despair, the end. When the skies closed above me and the downpour started it was too late. I wasn’t quick enough to run. I stopped, pitched my tent, hid inside and waited. Hours passed and nothing changed. A day passed, two days passed and the storm only got stronger. That is when it began…

I used to write a lot of notes on my journey. I had a feeling that this is a unique opportunity to see the world differently than it was during my usual working days. This one came to my mind as I was eating my lunch on a bench by a picturesque fjord. As I was browsing through my last pictures from London, I began to wonder how distant that life appears to me now.
